ideas about how to use chatting in my class
I am very interested in the tasks Nikki give us as an example in her class today. I think I can try to use chatting in my class to teach vocabulary, writing, etc. And I am sure it will be a good and effective way, compared with those traditional ones. Futhermore, chatting via Internet can provide students with more opportunities to communicate with native speakers, which is a comparatively easy way to acquire authentic English.
reactions to chating
I think chating can be very useful in language teaching . Teaching vocabulary, for example, can be very boring in the traditional way of teaching, but if we use chating to teach vocabulary, students' interests in learning a foreign language can be greatly aroused and their learning efficiency greatly improved. It is really an effective way of teaching language, though sometimes it may be time-consuming.

thoughts on using technology
Before I share my thoughts on using technology with everyboby here, I would like to say that the campus of Penn State is such a beautiful and peaceful place that I enjoy my stay here very much.
There is no doubt that we have already entered the Information Age, the use of technologies in EFL and ESL classrooms are very popular. As I see it, it can facilitate both language teaching and learning. On one hand, students can have an esay access to authentic language, thus developing more interests in learning and learn more efficiently. On the other hand, use of technologies help teachers save much class time so that their teaching become more efficent.
But unfortunately, I am not very good at using technologies im my teaching. I only ask my students to do presentations with PPT in class. Frankly speaking, I don't think use of technologies can replace teachers in language teaching, though in the future it maybe.
My goals for this class
To speak the truth, I'm not quite familiar with some technologies mentioned by Nikki, such as wiki, podcast, talking head, etc. I will try my best to get acquainted with these technologies to make my teaching more interesting and efficient.
